The Elephant Room

There’s always something changing
Well what did you expect
Sometimes these dreams feel like
The albatross ‘round my neck
And these days only seem to betray me now
Yeah lately time it’s been watering my dreams down
Memories only seem to betray me now
I won’t show anybody
What’s in the elephant room
Turn a blind eye if you wanna
It’s right in front of you
I won’t show anybody
What’s in the elephant room
I’m always looking away
I'm always looking
I’ve got a thing for awkward silences
Stick out like a sore thumb
God I must seem so obvious
About as subtle as the barrel of a gun
And these thoughts only seem to betray me now
The things I hear when they think I’m still around
Memories only seem to betray me now
I won’t show anybody
What’s in the elephant room
Turn a blind eye if you wanna
It’s right in front of you
I won’t show anybody
What’s in the elephant room
I’m always looking away
Do I even cross your mind?
Do you see me when I’m walking here at your side?
It’s not like I’m holding out for much
I give you every opportunity
I won’t show anybody
What’s in the elephant room
Turn a blind eye if you wanna
It’s right in front of you
I won’t show anybody
What’s in the elephant room
I’m always looking away

Force of Habit

Think she’s the reason I take the long way home
I’m just killing time
Gives me more than she’ll ever know
They say it’s the little things
It’s in her voice, the books and film we like
How I always read her messages last
The people I tell might roll their eyes
But she makes me want to be more than I am
I hate my town
I hate my bed
Hate the way she gets
Inside my head
It’s overused
But when she’s with me
Can’t think of any place
I’d rather be
And I say
It’s strange how when I am with her
I’m more than lost for words
It’s more than the force of habit
Which brings me back to her
She says that London fog gets her down
I don’t know how long she will stick around
Until it belonged to her I never liked her name
It's the wrong time but the right place
You know I hate my voice
And all the things I’ve said
I don’t know how to quit
While I’m ahead
It's clear that she's
Got me obsessed
I’m slowly going insane
But I digress
And I say
It’s strange how when I am with her
I’m more than lost for words
It’s more than the force of habit
Which brings me back to her
